An Urgent Message from ACCAP Secretary General
Dear Members & Supporters of ACCAP, We have been officially informed by the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) that the nascent industry of close to 1Million BPO & Call Center agents is too early to be recognized as a political organization in the coming elections. We were likewise puzzled by the same Comelec decision mentioning that the virtual world of emails, Facebook and internet campaign are but a figment of the Agent’s imagination. I, together with the rest of the BPO & Call Center agents nationwide obviously think otherwise. Our computer and IT literacy should in fact be admired, nurtured and not condemned. Our time has come to be recognized and be heard. We have long agreed as a group that we will no longer be the unseen, unsung and unspoken builders of the real economy. We are ACCAP. In this regard, even if ACCAP itself was not accredited to run in the May 2010 elections, the fight for our future continues, “Salus Populi Suprema Lex Esto”, "Let the welfare of the people be the supreme law." The next few weeks will prove both important & crucial for ACCAP. In the most fortunate of circumstances, AKMA, an accredited Partylist for marginalized workers, has graciously offered for ACCAP to field a guest candidate to carry our platform and file the necessary bills that will specifically protect the interest of Call Center & BPO Agents. AKMA shares the same ideals and beliefs that molded ACCAP to what it is now. We are totally convinced that we do not have to wait for the next election to be represented in Congress. Through AKMA, our desire to be heard will be realized right away. Ang Kilusan ng Makabayang Ahente continues with AKMA. We will be heard as promised. We will go out, campaign & vote for AKMA!” Tuloy po ang laban natin. Kevin Christian Carreon ACCAP Secretary General |
